Berube Expected To Make Strong Impression
The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired Craig Berube as their new head coach.  Berube (or Chief, as he is known) comes to the Leafs with a reputation as a coach who demands accountability and compete from all players on his roster.

Former Blues goaltender Jake Allen had this to say about Berube: “He’s going to tell you what you need and whether it’s good enough or not good enough.  The guys really appreciated what he did. They enjoyed playing for him and going to the rink because they knew he was there to win, and so were we.”

The Leafs delivered another stellar regular season, with Auston Matthews scoring 69 goals and William Nylander flirting with 100 points.  Players who showed tremendous growth included Matthew Knies (15 goals as a rookie), Bobby McMann (15 goals as a rookie), Jake McCabe (career best +20) and Joseph Woll (.964 save % in three playoff games).

The ingredients are there – elite, established veterans and emerging young players.  GM Brad Treliving will continue to reshape the roster this offseason to reflect his vision.

Fans can expect the team to have a different look and feel in 2024 – a team that will  be prepared in coaching and personnel for a long playoff run!
