2022 Playball! Blue Jays Official Program

Blue Jays Rise to Go Full Steam Ahead in 2022

The Blue Jays are back in Toronto to play 81 home games for the first time in three years. An exciting team features rising young stars blended with dynamic veterans, as Toronto prepares to explode onto the 2022 MLB scene.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. earned the American League Hank Aaron Award as the league’s best offensive performer in 2021, becoming the fourth Blue Jay in history to do so. The first baseman became the youngest player to win the top hitter award and would also earn an AL MVP finalist nod; averaging .311 at the plate with 111 RBI and tied atop the Majors with 48 home runs.

The Blue Jays fielded four All–Stars at the 2021 Midsummer Classic, including three as starters. Joining Guerrero Jr. and Teoscar Hernández as a first time All-Star was Bo Bichette. The shortstop showed a new level of play at the plate last season, belting an American League best 191 hits to finish with a .298 batting average.

The Blue Jays brass have remained busy building around a team that hit an MLB-leading 262 home runs last season and inking top-flight pitcher José Berríos to a long-term extension during the offseason. Now the franchise is determined to return to the playoffs, after falling just a game short on the final evening of a wild season full of COVID-19 upheaval in 2021. There were great signs of promise in the club’s first 90-plus-win season in six years. Now 2022 is the time for the Blue Jays to go full steam ahead and never look back.
